Definition
A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is the manufacturer-issued document detailing the hazards, handling, first-aid and disposal information for a chemical product. Under WHS regulations, SDSs must be available at every site where the chemical is used and must be no more than 5 years old.
Why it matters for procurement
SDS gaps are one of the most common WHS audit failures in cleaning. If your vendor can't produce a current SDS for every chemical onsite, the liability for a chemical incident sits squarely with you as the PCBU.
