Definition
AS/NZS 4801 was the Australian/New Zealand standard for occupational health & safety management systems, now largely superseded by ISO 45001 but still referenced in many Australian tender documents and government supplier panels.
Why it matters for procurement
Many NSW state contracts and large corporate procurement panels still list AS/NZS 4801 (or its successor ISO 45001) as a minimum WHS prerequisite. Vendors without a documented OHSMS are filtered out before the commercial review.
