Definition
Periodic cleaning refers to deep-clean tasks performed on a scheduled but infrequent cadence — typically monthly, quarterly, six-monthly or annually. Examples: carpet steam cleaning, hard-floor stripping and resealing, high dusting, exterior window cleaning, kitchen exhaust degreasing.
Why it matters for procurement
Periodics are where most cleaning contracts get padded or skipped. If your invoice includes 'quarterly carpet clean' but you have no proof it occurred, you've been paying for a service you didn't receive — and the floor wear shows it.
